This Valentine’s Day why not give to your loved one and spread love to your local community by picking up your gifts at our wonderful farmers’ markets.

One of the fabulous offerings at Mullum is the hand-made, organic, vegan, fair-trade and ethically-sourced deliciousness at Pure Melt Chocolate. Packed full of goodness these treats are seriously guilt-free, and are made from scratch by Sarah Wheeler from a unit in the Mullumbimby Industrial Estate.

Pure Melt Chocolate was launched at Mullumbimby Farmers Market in 2012. Originally Sarah had been told by a professor of nutritional medicine to eat 50g of 85 per cent dark cacao daily, however, finding a quality product that met all her needs and didn’t let down on taste proved difficult. Sarah then set out to perfect the delicate alchemy of raw chocolate making. As anyone who has eaten Sarah’s chocolates will tell you, this is a feat she has achieved in spades.

The ideal gift this Valentine’s Day is some Pure Melt Chocolate Love Bites. These heart-shaped, melt-in-your-mouth chocolate cookies are sold in funky, biodegradable tubes of eight. You can gift them on their own, or package them up with bags of drinking chocolate – and this week, all Valentine’s gifts will come with a free raspberry chocolate.

It is a highlight of Sarah’s week coming to the farmers’ market: ‘this is my community; it’s where I raised my children. I have received such tremendous support locally. I see young children grow into young adults, many of whom have worked with me along the way,’ she says.

Picking up fresh, locally-grown flowers will complete the gift and you can collect these from the stalls that are always bursting with colour and fragrance: Jumping Red Ant, Summit Organics, Wiccawood edible flowers, and Byron Lotus.
