As mothers across Australia look forward to (slightly burnt) toast in bed, the local farmers and producers in our beautiful Byron Shire and Northern Rivers are also gearing up to share the love.

Mullumbimby Farmers Market will be open as usual on Friday 7 May, two days before Mothers Day on Sunday 9 May.

And among the treats on offer to show mum you notice and love all the little things they do, are flowers, chocolate and fresh products of the highest quality.

Jumping Red Ant will have its usual colourful blooms to put a smile on mum’s face.

John’s famous home grown roses are a regular sight in the arms of lucky punters as they make their way through the market with the weekly shopping.

Puremelt Chocolate also has some decadent options to spoil mum for all her hard work and good advice.

Pop in to see them for raw organic handmade chocolates, chai, hot chocolate and ice chocolate.

Puremelt owner Sarah Wheeler said her hand-made, small batch chocolate is not only guilt-free, it’s actually good for you.

So good, in fact, she describes it as “therapeutic grade”.

If flowers and chocolates aren’t mum’s thing, making a hamper of fresh, local produce is a great way to show your appreciation.

We are living in one of the most fertile and fruitful pockets of the country after all – with so many artisanal small businesses offering products to create the perfect gourmet hamper.

And if you want to have your flowers and eat them too… the good news is you can!

Call by Mullum Markets and visit Kenrick and Ismerie at Wiccawood Organics for a bunch of their edible flowers!
