Nudgel Nuts – A Family Farm Growing Premium Macadamias in The Pocket

Nestled in the lush, fertile valley of The Pocket near Billinudgel, Nudgel Nuts is a family-owned farm with deep Northern Rivers roots and a passion for producing premium-quality macadamias.

The family’s 200-acre property is home to macadamia orchards planted between 1997 and 2005, alongside grass-fed beef cattle. Farming with minimal sprays and a strong commitment to caring for the land, the McRae family has spent decades nurturing their orchards to produce delicious, high-quality macadamias.

Unlike many growers, Nudgel Nuts manages almost every step of the journey themselves. From harvesting and processing to packing and selling, the family takes pride in delivering exceptionally fresh macadamias direct from their farm to customers.

Freshness is central to everything they do. The nuts are processed weekly, ensuring they retain their naturally creamy flavour and crisp texture. Their popular macadamia butter is made from whole nuts with no unnecessary additives, while their cold-pressed macadamia oil is processed locally and is perfect for everyday cooking thanks to its delicate flavour and high smoke point.

Their range has something for every macadamia lover, including natural and roasted nuts, honey-roasted macadamias, chocolate-coated treats, cooking halves, macadamia butter, macadamia oil and their popular sprinkle blend, which adds a delicious crunch to salads, desserts and even ice cream.

This season also brings an exciting new creation called Mandarin Addiction. The indulgent treat combines dark chocolate-coated macadamias with fragrant mandarin peel powder made from locally grown organic mandarins, creating a unique balance of rich chocolate, creamy macadamias and bright citrus.

Owner Ian McRae has been part of the Mullumbimby Farmers Market since it first opened in 2010 and is delighted to be back with a fresh new-season harvest, sharing the family’s produce with the local community once again.
