for a seed swap. Bring any excess seeds/cuttings you have and come and collect some free
seeds and cuttings.
Who are Byron Hinterland Seeds?
We are a non for profit seed saving network for the Byron Hinterland region
Our mission:
Is to encourage the community to grow, save and share seeds.
With the intention of protecting and carrying on the existence of a wide variety of
rare and wonderfull seeds.
We wish to see seeds kept safe in the hands of the people and the community, as
they have been by our ancestors since time immemorial. Seeds when kept local,
adapt to our climate overtime producing stronger and more resilient food sources.
Seeds are given freely and abundantly from the earth so we believe they are to be
shared and given freely in return.
Why is local seed saving & sharing important?
Seed saving is one of the most important things we can do in our time. Seeds are life
and our future. Sadly, seeds have become a commodity in our modern day. Large
corporations have acquired control and ownership over the vast majority of the
worlds seeds. Diversity within plant species is rapidly being lost with many
varieties already extinct. Seeds have co-evolved alongside humans, passed down
from hand to hand. If we do not continue this relationship and act as seed keepers
within our own backyards, seed lineages may be broken and lost forever.

Families love the market because there’s always something to keep the kids busy. In the Kiddie’s Plot, little ones can get creative with hands-on activities like gardening and permaculture, screen-printing and arts and crafts and facepainting
