Rini’s passion for cooking started right here in Byron, sharing homemade dishes for Harmony Day events at the community centre. Today, alongside her partner Ewan, she brings the vibrant flavours of East Java to Mullumbimby Farmers Market each Friday.
Their stall is always buzzing — and for good reason. Whether it’s the Indo Breaky, sizzling Nasi Goreng or Mie Goreng, corn fritters or golden chicken skewers drenched in Rini’s famous peanut sauce, nearly everything sells out week after week.
Rini’s cooking is deeply rooted in her Javanese heritage, but it’s also about connection: sharing culture, language, travel tips — and maybe a little cooking wisdom (just don’t ask her for the full satay sauce recipe!).
