WITH three live music stages each week and a host of memorable performances over the years, the Mullumbimby Farmers Market is almost as well known for its live music as it is for its farmers and fresh produce. And when it comes to the Mullum Music Fest weekend, the market goes all out to get into the festival spirit.

Previous years have seen circus performers being launched into the air from the market dining area, colourful stilt walkers weaving their way through the crowds. and some very lively dancefloors appearing under the market’s shady fig trees.

Live music out the back
This Friday November 15, the market once again becomes the breakfast venue of the Mullum Music Fest, and is promising another great line-up of fresh food, good tunes and festival fun.

Playing live on the market’s busking stages through out the morning are Canadian singer-songwriter Meiwa, market regulars Phil and Tilley, and local Naomi Connell. Roving performers will add the to fun.

At 10am, market goers will enjoy a special guest performance from Mullum Music Festival artist, West African drummer Gabriel Otu, who will perform live on the markets festival stage.

Spaghetti Circus

This year Spaghetti Circus is holding a special christmas kids workshops, learn to tumble, tight rop walk and watch these famous locals in action as they entertain us during the holiday festivities. Also performances by Puzzle Dust Circus.

The Market

The market is easy way to spend a Friday morning – there a range of breakfast stalls including The Nomadic Kitchen, with their rustic Sicilian style meals, Scratch Patisserie with French style pastries, Mayfields and their creative omelettes and other breakfast meals, crepes, dumplings, sushi and vegan snacks, all of which you can sit and enjoy at one of the many shady tables.

Bangalow Coffee and Myocum Coffee serve their fresh home grown coffee by the cup, and there are some delicious cold drinks to enjoy including jungle’s Juices fresh fruit juices and smoothies, Byron Cane Juice and home-made kombucha from the Organic Forrest Farm.

And if you’re heading to the festival, it’s also the perfect opportunity to stock up on some fresh produce for the weekend, or some easy take-home meals and snacks. Byron Gourmet Pasta has take home lasagnas and easy-to-prepare fresh pasta, and Church Farm has Thai and Indian style curry pastes made with local ingredients for an easy meal. There are delicious local cheeses for your platter at Cheese Loves You and Nimbin Valley Dairy, olives from Grumpy Grandma, dips from Baraka and the Spice Palace, macadamias from Rainforest Foods and Nudgel Nuts or pecans from Nimbin Valley Pecans and Rice.

Kiddies Plot

Families love the market because there’s always something to keep the kids busy. In the Kiddie’s Plot, little ones can get creative with hands-on activities like gardening and permaculture, screen-printing and arts and crafts.
